The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from March 2024.
ERO noted that students do very well in NCEA and that the school has a culture of setting high personal standards, with sound systems for tracking each student’s progress and achievement. It also pointed to a school setting that values students’ language, culture and identity, a habit of recognising success, and strong community partnerships that widen learning opportunities.
The school and ERO agreed to look at how well the school helps students gain merit and excellence endorsements in NCEA while keeping a balance between academic work and co-curricular life.
Next steps include tracking endorsement progress over time, making merit and excellence goals clearer in teaching, building personalised learning pathways with students and whānau while keeping wellbeing high, and better targeting support for students with additional learning needs.
