What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from August 2026. ERO rated the school Excelling, its highest judgement, for engagement and belonging and for curriculum, and Doing well in the other areas it judged.
In reading and writing a large majority of learners are at or above what is expected for their year level, and in mathematics most are. ERO described effective, consistent teaching, a curriculum that reflects the community’s values and identity, good support for learners with additional needs, and a board that keeps a clear focus on student outcomes.
Boys’ writing is behind girls’, although the gap is closing, and attendance, while improving, is still short of the Government target. ERO’s next steps are to keep lifting regular attendance, use evidence to measure whether initiatives are speeding up progress for groups of learners, and bring the school’s literacy and mathematics assessment into line with the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone are entitled to enrol, and new families provide proof of address. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. The scheme document, with the zone map, is linked from the enrolments page.
Parents of children starting school for the first time are invited to an orientation meeting the term before, and children can join classroom visits before they start.
