What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from March 2025. ERO found inclusive practices that give students a strong sense of belonging, leaders who use evidence well and involve students, staff and whānau in planning, an engaging curriculum that increasingly reflects the local area, and te reo and tikanga Māori woven into everyday learning. Achievement for Māori learners has improved since 2022.

ERO also found that a majority of students achieve at or above expectations in reading, but slightly less than half meet expectations in writing and maths, and a majority attend regularly, short of the Government’s target.

The agreed next steps are to lift writing and maths results with a focus on boys and Māori learners, strengthen teaching through targeted professional learning, keep building te reo and mātauranga Māori into the curriculum, and keep working on attendance.
