Home zone
No home zone: any student can apply to enrol. If more students apply than there are places, the school decides how places are offered.
Who goes here
Share of the 211 students who identify with each group. Students can name more than one, so these add up to more than 100%.
MELAA: Middle Eastern, Latin American and African.
Stand-downs and suspensions
Cases per 1,000 students in 2025, adjusted for the ages of the school’s students, compared with all New Zealand schools.
Suspensions: fewer than 5 cases in 2025, so no rate is shown.
These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.
What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from November 2024. Since its previous review, the school had worked with ERO on teaching reading, and by the end of the year a majority of the targeted students were at expected levels, with most making expected or faster progress and teachers now teaching reading in a more structured way.
Across the school, most students are engaged and making progress and a majority achieve at expected levels, but overall achievement is lower than expected, progress is weaker in reading and maths than in writing, and boys lag in reading and writing.
Less than half of students are at school regularly, which is under the Ministry target, although the school has developed a range of strategies to improve this. ERO found that wellbeing is promoted through the school’s values, students with additional needs are well supported, and te reo Māori, tikanga and mātauranga Māori are woven into the local curriculum.
The agreed next steps are to settle on a standard assessment tool for reading and maths and use assessment consistently across the school, to pin down the practices that make the most difference to achievement, wellbeing and regular attendance and embed them, to build learning partnerships with whānau, and to further embed te ao Māori and te reo Māori in daily school life.
